KIT Kids University 2014:
Exciting Subjects for Young Academics: „Fuel from the Farm“
Thus in 2014 KIT offered kids an insight into the exciting world of science and research. Starting from August, 5th, the 12th KIT Kids University took place at Audimax, Campus South, Karlsruhe.
From 9.00 a.m. a big number of visitors appeared in order to make a choice between all in all seventeen points of interest full of interesting exhibits and scientific experiments. With the ceremonious opening by Prof. Dr. Alexander Wanner, vice president of the KIT for academic matters, began from 10.00 a.m. for about 420 young academics their "study time".
A special highlight for the young "academics" was the lecture "fuel from the farm" explained in a comprehendible way by Dr. PD Nicolaus Dahmen about the complicated bioliq® process to the production of fuels from straw. He nourished his fabulous lecture with many interactive elements and interesting examples about the use of simple straw and biomass from the farm.

E. g., questions were discussed like "what straw and hay on the farmer's fields and wood from the forests have to do with your parent's cars. Nevertheless, all this biomass can deliver us the fuel in order to go into holidays. And with this kind of biofuels the environment can be enhanced.
The KIT Kids University takes place every year and it offers the children to create an own lecture for themselves and to acquire a Kids University Certificate afterwards. On a celebration ceremony the documents are distributed to the children.
